Top JanSan Industry Growth Opportunities

Safety continues to be a major concern in the JanSan industry. Whether it’s protection from harsh chemicals, avoiding cross-contamination, or preventing the spread of infection – gloves are an essential tool for safety in the JanSan industry. Consider these recent reports highlighting the top JanSan industry growth opportunities.

Many facilities across all sectors – Healthcare, industrial, education, government, commercial, domestic, hospitality, and food service – rely on the products and services that the JanSan industry provides. The JanSan industry in the U.S. is projected to have annual growth of 33% reaching $2.0 billion by 2022.  In fact, the JanSan industry has the second-highest revenue growth potential of all sectors, indicating the market is ripe for expansion. The forecasted growth for the JanSan industry is positive with two sectors fueling the demand – Real Estate, and Healthcare.

Top SanJan Industry Growth Opportunities

  1. Commercial Real Estate:  After years of sluggish growth, office space is being leased at the fastest clip since the great recession, according to a recent report by Reis Inc. Employers added 15.3 million square feet of office space in the fourth quarter, more than any other quarter since the third quarter of 2007, according to real-estate research service Reis Inc. This news should prove positive for the professional cleaning industry.  Higher occupancy translates to more building space that needs to be cleaned, and more cleaning tools, equipment, and chemicals will need to be purchased.

  2. Infection Prevention in Healthcare:  The growing demand for infection prevention products and services is forecasted to positively impact the JanSan sector. According to a new study, “Infection Prevention Products & Services,” by Market to Market, the demand for infection prevention products and services is forecasted to expand 6.7% percent annually to $16.7 billion in 2020. The study also reveals that increasing pressures on hospitals and other healthcare facilities to decrease rates of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) will boost revenues generated by infection prevention supplies, equipment, and services.

With the potential for vinyl, nitrile and latex glove sales, distributors do not want to miss out on the many sales opportunities in the JanSan industry. Workers use cleaning chemicals and other tools to perform their jobs, while the most important tool – personal protection equipment – is often ignored resulting in illness, injury, and fatalities.

3 Smart Sales Tips for JanSan Safety

Like other B2B industries, the JanSan market continues to experience major changes  – the rapid rise of disruptive technology – the social media revolution – buying power shifts with Millennials and Baby Boomers, distribution model changes and more. No matter how much the JanSan industry changes, there is always a need to protect the health and safety of workers.  In fact, recent reports indicate that market conditions in commercial real estate and the medical sectors are fueling growth in the JanSan industry.  How can you capitalize on the growth in SanJan?

3 Smart Sales Tips for JanSan Safety

  1. Stay current on Trends
Trends, such as increased health and safety, energy and labor savings, and sustainability, have fueled the cleaning industry and will continue to do so for years to come. Manufacturers in the JanSan industry will continue to invest in research and development and product innovation to stay on the cutting-edge.  This is a great outlook for distributors who will have a steady stream of new products that provide customers with innovative solutions to do their work safer and more efficiently. The needs are virtually endless and so is the income stream for those that stay informed and take action.
  2. Understand what matters
Find out what’s really important to your customers.  Do you really understand your customer’s unique needs?  Curiosity is a powerful trait. The most successful  businesspeople will tell you that curiosity is one of the best qualities a salesperson can have. Curious salespeople ask probing questions and take a genuine interest in learning about their clients. if you stop selling and start asking, you’ll find out what motivates them to make decisions, and, by listening, you’ve now built a trusting relationship. It’s a win-win-win.
  3. Promote Solutions
How do you add value?  Smart distributors understand this key fact – you don’t sell products – you sell solutions.  When describing the JanSan products that you sell, be specific about the problems that they solve for your customers in each sector in JanSan – education, government, healthcare, hospitality, food service, commercial and domestic.  Sure, you sell disposable latex, nitrile vinyl, and poly gloves, but what do you really sell?  Emphasize the solutions your products provide –
  • Healthcare: “We help hospitals reduce the spread of infections.”
  • Education:We help schools reduce student absenteeism.”
  • Industrial:  “We help facilities increase productivity.”
  • Foodservice: “We help restaurants reduce cross contamination.”

Safety is Everyone’s Business.  You may not think that you are in the safety business, but safety impacts everyone in every industry. No matter how much the JanSan industry changes, there is always a need to protect the health and safety of workers.  Gloves are an essential tool for safety. The JanSan industry – manufacturers, distributors, and facility managers – that can offer quality products, understand what matters, and add value by promoting solutions will be positioned to capitalize on the forecasted market growth.

Why Safety Matters for All Industries

June is National Safety Month and workplace safety is no accident.  In fact, occupational accidents and injuries affect every industry and can majorly impact an employer’s bottom line.  Businesses spend $170 billion a year on costs associated with occupational injuries and Illness. However, workplace accidents can be substantially reduced with a solid safety program incorporating personal protective equipment (PPE). This June, we encourage you to learn more about why safety matters for all industries.  Each week during National Safety Month, AMMEX will share valuable industry-specific topics, tips, and trends that you can reshare or send directly so you are a Safety Expert for your clients #‎SafetyMatters.

Safety Matters for All Industries

    • Week 1:  Safety Month Launch
    • Week 2:  JanSan Industry
    • Week 3:  Automotive Industry
    • Week 4:  Food Service Industry
    • Week 5:  Medical and Dental Industry

Why Safety Matters for All Industries

Workplace safety affects all industries – whether it’s food safety in the food service industry, chemical safety in janitorial and sanitation, or protection against biological agents in the medical and dental industry – whatever the case workplace safety matters to every industry.  In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that workplace injuries reached 3.0 million in 2014 and occurred across all occupations.  Workplace injuries can significantly impact an employer’s bottom line.

“Creating a safe workplace is becoming increasingly important to business success.”

Employers that invest in workplace safety can expect to reduce fatalities, injuries, and illnesses. This will result in cost savings in a variety of areas, such as lowering workers’ compensation costs and medical expenses, avoiding OSHA penalties, and reducing costs to train replacement employees and conduct accident investigations. In addition, employers often find that changes made to improve workplace safety and health can result in significant improvements to their organization’s productivity and financial performance.

“Because much work is done with the hands, gloves are essential for workplace safety programs.”

Fatalities and injuries can be substantially reduced with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).  Any form of PPE that acts as a barrier between the skin and the agent of exposure can be considered skin protection. Gloves are an essential tool in protecting workers. Some examples of gloves commonly used as PPE include leather work gloves and disposable gloves such as nitrile, latex, vinyl or poly.  Many different gloves are used for protection, generally against biological agents, chemical agents, and mechanical trauma.  Other than gloves, protection worn for the purpose of protecting the skin is considered personal protection equipment such as face masks, poly sleeves, aprons, and hair nets.

National Safety Month is a great time for employers to evaluate workplace safety programs and safety equipment. The benefits of a workplace safety program can directly affect the company’s bottom line, reducing costs and improving productivity.  AMMEX disposable gloves are sold by AMMEX distributors and trusted by the most prominent end users across a variety of industries.  Contact us today to become a distributor and supply your customers with superior quality disposable gloves and barrier protection products.

6 Safety Tips for Every Industry

Safety is no accident. Safety affects everyone in every industry.  In fact, workplace injuries and illnesses significantly impact everyone whether it’s – employers profits, workers health or rising insurance costs for consumers.  However, accidents are preventable with safety protocols, proper training and safety products. Join AMMEX this June for National Safety Month, and learn about industry-specific safety topics, tips, and trends.

6 Safety Tips for Every Industry

The benefits of a workplace safety program can directly affect the company’s bottom line, reducing costs and improving productivity. Every workplace has hazards that endanger workers, but many of these issues are avoidable with the proper safety protocals, safety gear, and training.

1. De-clutter to prevent falls
Falls are one of the most common workplace injuries and resulted in 699 fatal injuries in 2013, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Even in cases with no fatalities, falling to a lower level may cause serious injuries. Unsafe practices and a low safety culture across many industries define steady fall injury rates year after year.   According to a CDC study, “Fall injuries constitute a considerable financial burden: workers’ compensation and medical costs associated with occupational fall incidents have been estimated at approximately $70 billion annually in the United Sates.”

Falls often occur in the workplace because of cluttered areas, slippery or uneven floor surfaces, floor holes, wall openings, unprotected edges and improperly positioned ladders. Although the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Association has regulations requiring specific fall protection measures for different industries, falls may still be common due to a lack of safety culture in an organization. To avoid falls, companies should ensure all working areas are free from clutter. In addition, shoe covers with rubberized grips give workers better traction.

2. A culture of safety starts with you
Understanding the unique risks at your company or in your industry helps managers create effective training. Emphasize the importance of safety so employees take it to heart. Workplace safety should be an early area of focus when new workers start at the company. Conduct regular inspections to identify anything that could become a hazard.

3.  Train workers on all tools and equipment
Tools and equipment help millions of workers get their jobs done in every industry every day.  Whether it’s heavy machinery in the industrial sector or surgeons tools in the medical and dental industry.  Tools and equipment are needed and so is the proper training.Anyone who works with specific machinery should receive training. In addition, equipment should be regularly checked to ensure it stays in working order. Improper use of tools and equipment  introduces risks into the workplace.  According to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) –

“It has been estimated that employers pay almost $1 billion per week for direct workers’ compensation costs alone.”

4. Reduce workplace stress
Stressed out employees are more likely to be injured on the job. Long hours tire workers, making them less aware of their surroundings. Encourage workers to talk to their supervisors if they feel high levels of stress. Allow time for regular breaks so employees have a chance to recharge.

5. Lift correctly
Picking up heavy items improperly causes back injuries and chronic pain. Workers who need to lift heavy items should use proper form to avoid injury. Lift slowly and smoothly from the thighs, not the back. After picking up a heavy item, hold it close to the body. Use mechanical aids whenever possible to reduce the likelihood of back injuries.

6. Use the right PPE for the job
With risks in nearly every industry, some sectors must provide personal protective equipment for employees.  Whether it’s protection from harsh chemicals, avoiding cross-contamination, or preventing the spread of infection – PPE such as gloves are an essential tool for safety in every industry.  All employees need to be educated on how to use PPE, and all gear should fit well and be comfortable, which encourages employees to make use of it. Depending on the job, personal protective equipment like work gloves, disposable gloves or face masks greatly reduces the risk of workplace injury.  When it comes to disposable gloves for barrier protection, employers need to be mindful of

Depending on the job, personal protective equipment like work gloves, disposable gloves or face masks greatly reduces the risk of workplace injury.  When it comes to disposable gloves for barrier protection, employers need to be mindful of chemical and puncture resistance, fit and latex sensitivities. All PPE should be tested before implemented across an organization. In addition to gloves, companies may need face masks, sleeves, and other protective coverings.

Safety Matters to all industries – it affects employees health, employers profits, the public’s health costs and the global economy. Employers who invest in the safety of their employees see improved morale, increased productivity, lower costs and, most importantly, fewer injuries. Smart distributors understand their customer’s unique, industry-specific needs then customize solutions such as product assortment and product education to meet the ever-changing demands.

Surprising Tips for Using Disposable Gloves in the Kitchen

The kitchen is the heart of the home. It’s where countless good times are shared over family dinners and where important conversations often take place as meals are prepared.  We cook, eat, entertain, and just hang out in the kitchen.  The kitchen is not only the heart of the home it is also the mission control for a lot of home tasks.  Home tasks require the right tools to complete the job. In fact, disposable gloves are ideal for many home use tasks, especially in the kitchen. Beyond cleaning tasks, consider these surprising tips for using disposable gloves in the kitchen.

Stop the Burn

Surprising Tips for Using Disposable Gloves in the Kitchen

Disposable gloves in the kitchen are a smart way to protect your hands from burning when cutting Jalapeños or any hot peppers. Most people associate jalapeño peppers with the burning sensation in the mouth when eating the pepper. However, just as unpleasant is the jalapeño skin burn that you can get from simply touching the pepper during food preparation. The burn from jalapeño pepper is caused by the chemical capsaicin that is naturally found in the pepper.  Food-safe disposable gloves such as AMMEX GlovePlus Vinyl Powdered Gloves creates a barrier of protection, stopping the burn before it starts.  Vinyl is ideal for safety and hygiene for a variety of kitchen tasks. Featuring powder on the inside of the glove, and a beaded cuff at the base, this glove is easy to don, even if your hands are damp. The powder makes the glove more comfortable, and will absorb sweat when you’re working in the kitchen.

Separating the Yolk

Surprising Tips for Using Disposable Gloves in the Kitchen

Separating an egg yolk from the white is one of the most universally dreaded kitchen tasks out there. Most cooks prefer using their hands or the egg’s own shell to separate them. For those who don’t like getting messy, and want to practice safe food handling, wearing disposable gloves such as AMMEX GPX3 Vinyl is the perfect solution.  This single-use vinyl glove features a smooth polymer coating, so it is easy to switch gloves when you need a fresh pair.  Not only is vinyl cheaper than latex and nitrile, but it features a more generous fit because vinyl is less stretchy. The PVC vinyl material also features excellent tactile sensitivity and is ideal for food tasks in the kitchen.

Toss the Salad

Surprising Tips for Using Disposable Gloves in the Kitchen

Another surprising tip for using disposable gloves in the kitchen is for salad tossing.  Most chefs will agree that the best tool you can use for mixing salad is your hands. Using disposable gloves such as AMMEX Stretch Poly in the kitchen makes food preparation less messy and safer for you and your family. Using your gloved hands to toss the salad allows air to get into the mix and incorporates the ingredients in a more distributed way. Drizzle your dressing along the walls of your bowl, then lightly toss your greens with your gloved hands, until the dressing is evenly distributed. This glove has enhanced elasticity. The stretch polyethylene material will give you excellent dexterity and also improved puncture resistance when compared to other poly gloves. There’s no powder inside the gloves so you don’t have to worry about messy powder residue and there’s no need to wash your hands after your food prep is done!

Guard Against Strong Food Odors

Surprising Tips for Using Disposable Gloves in the Kitchen

Onions, garlic and seafood are a few good reasons to don disposable gloves in the kitchen. Sometimes after handling these foods, even multiple hand washing will not remove lingering food odors from hands.  GlovePlus Blue Vinyl is an ideal disposable glove choice when handling food with strong odors. Vinyl gloves contain no latex proteins, so those allergic or sensitive to latex can work safely and comfortably. In work environments, they are commonly used for food service, janitorial, and plumbing applications – making these vinyl gloves a general purpose disposable glove at work and home.

Get UnstuckSurprising Tips for Using Disposable Gloves in the Kitchen

Disposable gloves are an essential tool in the kitchen, especially when it comes to opening tight lids on jars.  Nitrile gloves such as  AMMEX Heavy Duty Orange Nitrile Disposable Gloves feature, 60% more surface area than a standard nitrile glove and over 3000 raised diamonds per glove for incredible grip!  Lightly grab hold of the lid and twist, the disposable glove gives you more gripping power and will open the lid with ease.  This heavy duty nitrile glove also features excellent chemical resistance from common chemicals and is ideal for cleaning jobs in the kitchen when exposure to cleaning products is of concern.

Barrier Protection from Foodbourne Illness

Surprising Tips for Using Disposable Gloves in the Kitchen

These surprising tips for using disposable gloves in the kitchen, not only save time and minimize messy tasks they also provide a barrier of protection from foodbourne illness.  According to the CDC, there are more than 250 different foodborne illnesses. Each year, one in six Americans get sick from contaminated foods or beverages.  Foodborne illness is a common, yet preventable, health problem. Keep a 100 box count of disposable gloves in your kitchen drawer, such as AMMEX AntiMicrobial Vinyl Gloves which contains an antimicrobial agent to help inhibit the growth of microorganisms. It is powder-free so it leaves no residue, reducing the risk of contamination compared to a powdered glove. Disposable gloves help prevent foodbourne illness and help make clean up a snap.

Regardless of your tasks at home, having a box of disposable gloves on hand in the kitchen is sure to make food preparation safer, cleaner and quicker.  When choosing the right glove for the right job in the kitchen make sure that the gloves are deemed food safe.  If latex allergies are of concern then nitrile, vinyl or poly disposable gloves are alternative choices, since they contain no allergy causing natural rubber.  For all of your disposable glove needs in the kitchen and around the home, count on AMMEX disposable gloves and barrier protection products.

In business, preparation and planning are the main components of a successful company, but when it comes to succession planning, many senior executives struggle with being able to replace themselves. Finding the next great leader of your business is an important challenge that involves too many variables that busy leaders often struggle to find time to consider. “A-players are hard to find and hard to keep, It took me a little bit longer than most people to figure this out, but it’s better to get really great people to work and come in and take things on,” noted Crosetto.

Six Common Chemicals that Require Disposable Gloves

When it comes to using disposable gloves, opportunities are everywhere. In fact, we have received so many great contest entries for our
2nd Annual AMMEX #NotWithoutGloves Twitter Contest, reminding us of the countless opportunities of what not to touch – not without gloves. There are many opportunities for disposable glove distributors too. Consider the products that you or your customers sell; many may contain multiple chemicals. Did you know that there are six common chemicals that require disposable gloves?  In fact, there are many common chemicals that require disposable gloves according to OSHA and as stated by many manufacturers instructions on product packaging. Along with warmer weather, Spring also brings many overdue home projects that involve the use of common chemicals.  These chemicals can be found in products such as pesticides, wood stains, and paints and lacquers. Before your next project, read the product instructions and protect yourself from these six common chemicals that require disposable gloves.

1. Wood Stains

AMMEX dispsoable gloves for wood stain chemicalsWood stains come in a variety of compositions and consistencies. Some are semi-transparent, and others are intended to create a thick coating over the wood. Because of the variety of wood stain products on the market, specific stains may have multiple hazardous chemicals in them. Some chemicals commonly found in wood stains are ethylene glycol, sodium hydroxide, ethyl alcohol, latex and 1,4-dioxane. Industrial grade nitrile, latex or vinyl disposable gloves provide chemical resistance and effective protection depending on the chemical and duration of use. Consumers should always follow manufacturers label instructions and take steps to avoid exposure to chemicals by using the recommended barrier protection, such as disposable gloves.  Continue reading Not without Gloves: Wood Stains to review chemicals found in wood stains and the recommended gloves for handling each.

2. Pesticides

AMMEX Orange Nitrile Gloves GWON Pesticides

Naphthalene, paradichlorobenzene, and capsaicin are chemicals commonly found in pesticides and are among the 6 types of chemicals that require disposable glove use. It is important to use the right glove for the right job for the best protection. For example, industrial grade latex, nitrile and vinyl disposable gloves are resistant to the chemical naphthalene and are all suitable to use when handling this chemical; but only nitrile gloves, such as AMMEX Gloveworks Heavy Duty Orange Nitrile are recommended when using paradichlorobenzene. Since nitrile is a synthetic glove material it offers superior chemical resistance and excellent protection against the chemical paradichlorobenzene.  In fact, premium nitrile gloves are three times more puncture-resistant than latex and are more chemical resistant than latex or vinyl.  Learn more about these disposable gloves and how they protect against chemicals in pesticides by continuing to read the article Not without Gloves: Pesticides.

3. Specialty Chemicals

AMMEX Gloves Specialty Chemicals

Specialty chemicals are produced to serve a specific function and may be composed of a single chemical or a blend. Iodine, printing ink, lubricants and plastics are chemicals that require disposable glove use. These specialty chemicals often have an influence on the end product in the manufacturing process and are commonly used in the oil industry, agriculture, electronics, construction and in consumer goods, such as detergents, perfumes and paper items.  Because these blends vary depending on the application, specialty chemicals should always be handled with care, which means wearing disposable gloves and other personal protective equipment (PPE).  Here are some components of specialty chemicals and the appropriate gloves for handling them:  Not without Gloves: Specialty Chemicals.

4. Perchloroethylene

Industrial-Latex-Gloves-Chemical-Resistant

What is perchloroethylene?  This chemical is a non-flammable, colorless, volatile organic compound frequently used in dry cleaning applications. It is also known as tetrachloroethylene, PCE and PERC. While dry cleaning services are the most common use for PERC, it is also used to manufacture other chemicals, such as chlorofluorocarbons, rubber coatings, insulating fluid or cooling gas for electrical transformers, solvent soaps, printing inks, adhesives, leather treatments and automotive cleaners, among others.

Exposure to perchloroethylene is common in work environments such as dry cleaning, metal degreasing, chemical production, rubber coating, or textile factories. Although most PERC-related health problems are caused by inhalation, the chemical may cause irritation after direct contact with the skin. Industrial-grade gloves such as AMMEX Gloveworks HD Latex and AMMEX Gloveworks HD Orange Nitrile are excellent disposable glove choices to protect employees.  Along with gloves, face masks should be used to minimize exposure.  AMMEX N95 Cone Masks are rated N95 by NIOSH, ensuring a high level of protection for employees. More information can be found by reading the article Not without Gloves: Perchloroethylene.

5. Lacquer and Paint Thinners

AMMEX-Not-with-out-gloves-paint

Lacquer and paint thinners are harsh solvents that should not be handled without the correct personal protective equipment (PPE). This is because these substances, which are used in the construction, automotive, retail and maritime industries, present several health risks when they are not handled safely.  If workers use paint and lacquer thinners without gloves, they may experience dermatitis, skin irritation and numbness in the areas that come in contact with the solvents. With repeated exposure to the chemicals, the side effects become more severe, ranging from liver disease to an increased risk of cancer, as indicated by material safety data sheets (MSDSs) for these solvents.  With these hazards in mind, always consider the following PPE for safe handling of paint and lacquer thinners:  Learn more by reading the article Not without Gloves: Lacquer and Paint Thinners.

6. Salon Chemicals

AMMEX-Gloves-for-Hair-

Hazardous chemicals are found in many industries and products, and the beauty industry is no exception.  Acetone, formaldehyde, trichloroethylene, dibutyl phthalate and toluene are among the six common chemicals that require disposable gloves. These chemicals are in many beauty industry products including nail polish, nail polish remover, nail and hair bonding glue, hair dye and hair spray. Workers in the beauty industry handle potentially toxic chemicals on a daily basis and should don the right personal protective equipment based on the chemicals used.

Because chemical concentrations may vary, it is important to check the safety data sheet issued by the manufacturer and conduct in-house testing to determine the safe exposure time.  For instance, latex gloves offer excellent barrier protection against acetone. However the duration of use is limited, so nitrile gloves may be a better choice since nitrile is a synthetic material that offers superior chemical resistance for longer periods. In fact, nitrile gloves such as AMMEX Gloveplus Black Nitrile are more chemical resistance than latex or vinyl and offer three times more puncture-resistant than latex.  Although nitrile gloves provide excellent barrier protection against many common salon chemicals, it is crucial to understand the recommendations for each solution.  Continue reading the article Not without Gloves: Salon Chemicals to learn more.

When it comes to using disposable gloves, opportunities are everywhere.  For many applications from home use to industrial, disposable gloves are a necessity, and for others personal protective equipment is an added safety measure. Whatever the case, demand for disposable gloves is growing, and distributors need to supply gloves to meet that demand. Disposable gloves are an easy add-on sale, for any of your clients that sell chemicals that require disposable glove use. Did you know that the National Hot Dog & Sausage Council (NHDSC),estimates that baseball fans will consume more than 19.4 million hot dogs this year at stadiums across the country?  To avoid contamination, concession stand food service workers need disposable gloves to handle hot dogs and other foods at the concession stand.  Food service gloves such as loose-fitting poly gloves or polyethylene gloves are ideal since they easy to don and doff when switching between tasks or even between customers. Another popular choice for food service employees are vinyl gloves which are ideal in cases where greater dexterity is needed, closer-fitting vinyl gloves come in handy.  In the food service industry, workers on average use up to 20 pairs of disposable gloves per day.  But consider the food service velocity in a baseball stadium and imagine the possibilities for increased sales with poly and vinyl food service gloves.

An average baseball hot dog vendor sells about 150 hot dogs per game and 10,000 to 12,000 hot dogs per season. How many disposable gloves will an average baseball food vendor need?”

Groundskeepers

Most of the time, fans only see groundskeepers resetting the field during the seventh inning stretch, or scrambling to cover the field during a sudden rain storm. However, a great deal of work goes into maintaining that field when players and spectators are absent.  Most fields are still made of grass rather than AstroTurf, which means groundskeepers must maintain it on a day-to-day basis.   Did you know that you can earn a college degree in Turfgrass Management, a Master’s degree, and a Ph.D.?  There’s a lot of work involved in maintaining a sports field than most people would imagine. To keep a fresh green appearance, groundskeepers apply pesticides and other chemicals that could irritate or damage hands of workers.

Disposable nitrile gloves such as AMMEX Heavy Duty Orange Nitrile provide a protective barrier against chemicals and are still strong enough to protect from other irritants. In other situations, like removing thorny plants from the field, groundskeepers may need a more heavy-duty work glove like nitrile dipped or latex dipped work gloves. Tap into disposable glove opportunities in baseball – Opportunities are everywhere, from nitrile and latex disposable gloves for tasks on the turf to nitrile and latex dipped work gloves for tougher groundskeeping jobs.

JanSan Cleanup Crew

Once the crowds leave, another crowd descends on the stadium – janitorial and sanitation crews work overnight to clean up after thousands of fans. According to data from Business Insider, the average MLB ballpark is 2.49 acres, or more than 100,000 square feet, which provide endless opportunities for disposable nitrile, vinyl, and latex gloves.  All in all, cleaning up a stadium is hard work, and it is not only the seats that need attention. Janitorial staff also need to attend to bathrooms and hallways, while concession staff scrub and sanitize their areas for the night. All of these activities require disposable gloves of varying thicknesses. In the janitorial and sanitation industry employees use gloves for various reasons, including protection from harsh chemicals and pathogens. Additionally, they use an average of 15 pairs per day but consider the magnitude of the crowds and surface space in baseball stadiums.

“The average capacity of the top 20 baseball stadiums is 40,000 fans.”  How many disposable gloves are needed to clean up after that crowd?”

Janitorial staff commonly use strong cleaning chemicals in the line of duty. Glass and metal cleaners that include hydrofluoric acid, nitrilotriacetate, and phosphoric acid could cause burns or irritation if proper protective barrier such as heavy duty nitrile gloves is not worn. Bleach is one of the most common cleaning chemicals but it is also highly corrosive to the skin.  In the janitorial and sanitation industry vinyl disposable gloves, are another good option because they are economically priced but still generally provide enough chemical resistance. Vinyl gloves protect hands against hydrofluoric, phosphoric and 10 percent concentrated nitric acids. Nitrile gloves provide even greater chemical resistance and are less likely to tear.  With the potential for vinyl, nitrile and latex glove sales, distributors do not want to miss out on the many sales opportunities in the Jan-san industry.
